Strange Fortune description

Paradise Disowned is a classic release that is Lustmord's transition from harsh industrial to the subtler dark soundscapes of the rest of their career.

Paradise Disowned press release

"Paradise Disowned" was originally released on vinyl by Side Effects in 1984. It was issued on CD a few years later in conjunction with World Serpent Distribution, and then went out of print in 1996. Soleilmoon is pleased to make this seminal work available again, with updated artwork and a friendly price to match.

The album featured B. Lustmord, who has since established a solid reputation as a innovative music sound designer with over 35 major movie credits, and John Murphy, known at that time for his work with Current 93, and as drummer for The Associates and Peter Murphy.

As the second Lustmord album, "Paradise Disowned" marked a transition from the apocalyptic industrial noisescapes of the first eponymous Lustmord album, released in 1982, to a more darkly atmospheric, though no less disturbing style of music. It is notable for setting the groundwork for latter recordings with it's extensive use of subterranean recordings at such locations as deep nuclear shelters, the cave at Craig-Y-Ddinas (Wales) and the crypt of Chartres Cathedral, along with disturbing abattoir recordings and at the site of the original Bedlam hospital.

"Heresy", issued in 1990, fulfilled this transformation, setting at the same time, a standard for "dark ambient" music against which other bands were constantly compared for years thereafter.

This 1999 reissue of "Paradise Disowned" fills a signifigant gap in the history of this legendary band and its ongoing development.
