Snowy soundscapes and celebratory songs for the season. A limited edition EP of 333 hand numbered copies released Yule '06. Last copies available now.
Electronic music artist Tor Lundvall is enjoying something of a breakthrough year in 2006, his Empty City album of evocative "ghost ambient" tracks generating his highest critical attention and fastest sales to date. Tor's music was heard recently on NPR radio stations by 200,000 listeners, on the famous "Hearts of Space" radio program.
Announced November '06 is Tor Lundvall's next release, a limited edition EP called Yule, described as "snowy soundscapes and celebratory songs for the season."
Tor explains with his Yule EP he has attempted to capture "another side" of the holiday season than the typical Christmas album, offering all original compositions in a "blurred and distant," slightly melancholic form.
Release date for Tor Lundvall's Yule EP is set as Thanksgiving 2006. It is to be a numbered limited edition of 333 copies, and will be available only directly from the label at strangefortune.com.

So many things in today's life are inconsistent. Change has become the norm, not to make things better, not to improve or innovate, but just change for the sake of it. Is it because we are just bored ? or even worse do we just change things because we want to hide the immobility of our society, because if we stop changing we stop buying and if we stop buying we (as a society) die ? Well, I don't have the answer to that but through all this chaos, for the last 3 years, there has been only one sure thing to reassure me, one beacon of safety, that every holiday season there would be a new release from Tor Lundvall and his greeting cards. This year did not fail to impress me, though I still can't decide if I will give the cards or just keep them for myself as a collector (which I have done so far!!!!). Tor comes back to vocals and in my opinion this is a great choice, I know many people have been skeptical about his singing but after listening to Empty City again and again I have come to the conclusion that I like his vocal work better. I also want to give a special mention to The Falling Snow, a long (sort of) droning piece which is simply fantastic but in a more dark ambient style. It appears to have been recorded back in 1998 which explains the difference with today's work. All the songs here are holiday/winter themed but again with a pagan twist, as the title suggests, and as one can feel through the soft cotton of these compsitions. I will repeat in this review that Tor Lundvall is the TRUE avant garde in terms of ambient music, he is a one of the very few that has found the soul in the machines.
